LEOSA Certification - HR218
If you are a retired Law Enforcement Officer you may qualify to carry a firearm nationwide under HR218. One of the requirements to carry under HR218 is to complete an annual qualification/certification class with an instructor certified to conduct a firearms qualification test for active duty officers.

Instructor Gary Belanger is a Connecticut POST Certified Firearms Instructor and offers HR218 Qualification and Certification to retired Law Enforcement Officers.

In order to attend this class you must have and provide proof of retirement from a qualifying agency, a Connecticut Permit to Carry Pistols and Revolvers and meet all other eligibility criteria set forth in 18 U.S. Code § 926C.

This class runs about two hours and you will need to provide the firearm you wish to carry under HR 218 to qualify with, you may also bring a second handgun if you wish to have two handguns listed on your HR218 ID, you will need 100 rounds of ammunition per firearm, practice ammunition is OK but you must remember to be prepared for possible future testimony so consideration should be paid to qualifying with the rounds you will carry.

The cost for this class is $125 and payment is accepted via cash, check or major credit card.

Upon successful completion/qualification your photo will be taken and you will receive a photo ID to corroborate your compliance of qualification under HR218 within 10 days. This ID card is valid for one year from date of qualification.
